The sign on their door says “Welcome to Mrs. Cross’s home for Wayward Monsters” but siblings Midget, Squidget and Suzy are feeling anything but. Dropped off less than four hours and the the children have already been yelled at, pushed around and confined to their quarters. And that was just from the misanthropic doorman, Thorn. Together with their new friend Spike, the children must band together to explore their new home, and prepare for meeting the matriarch of the house, Grandmother Cross.
Confined to their room at Mrs. Cross’s home for Wayward Monsters, three siblings escape to explore the mansion’s dark corridors, only to find that a darker secret may already be searching for them.

The correct, Kid safe Version:
Three juvenile characters (twin brothers Midget & Squidget and their older sister Suzy) grow up in an creepy Victorian mansion populated with strange neighbors. The kids do not get along together to begin with, but stick together because they are the only children in the home.
The three go on adventures and come together as a family along the way. Did i mention they are all monsters?
Three Characters:
Midget – the smaller of the two brothers. Midget is accustomed to being teased because of his size, and tends to be very extroverted to compensate. Midget is something of a know it all. These two qualities have allowed him to become the leader of the three siblings.
Squidget – Younger than midget, but taller. If Midget is the brains, Squidget is the brawn. Â Squidget thinks very highly of his brother and often defends him from bullies. Squidget considers himself to be less intelligent than his brothers, and often follows his brothers lead.
Suzy – The Twins older sister. She resents no longer being an only child and often acts as a naysayer and foil for their plans, but secretly enjoys hanging out with them.

It’s all well and good to say you are making some toys, butfirst you need to settle on some character designs. Here are a few I am considering:
- angry frog amputee in a wheelchair
- space monkey
- monkey nun
- penguin mercenary
- drug addled sloth
- koala in recovery
- red panda ninja
- Ari the vegetarian alligator
- Lucitonya the evil ninja assasin – that is, she assasinates evil ninjas
- midget and squidget
- gary the ex-con sock monkey
- gracy the night club chanteuce sock monkey
- monkeybear
- pink grim reaper (“Why’s everyone so Oosy-Goosey?”)
- Alien cheerleader squad
- mad scientist animals – maybe a beaver – so they can build
- Dr Snake
- Crime fighting team of obscure house pets: hermit crab, parrots, cockatoos, goldfish, myna bird (evil henchmen), snake (watch out for connotations)
- Mythological Creatues – but not greek or roman they are done to death. Maybe Mayan?
- Nerdy animal mascots – like hedgehogs with plasic rim glasses
- leaders of world religions
- action figures for obscure movies – Krull, Magnolia, Session 9, Enchanted April
- Creatures from another dimension – in the mathematical sense. dot for 1D, figure 8 with arms and legs for 2D, nesting doll for 4D

Project Goals
- Design Characters (3-5)
Character Designs should be simple but interesting. Designs should be on par with Kid Robot or Sanrio in terms of simplicity and appeal
- Model Characters
Begin with a clay maquette, then produce a 3D model in Maya. Model must be suitable for 3D Printing:
- one piece construction with possibility of peg & hole base
- Hollow with a modeled inside
- Must be set to appropriate scale 2″ – 4″
- Include a hole in the design to allow character to be hollow (and save on production cost)
- Send Models to 3D printer – This will be expensive. Start saving now.
- Cast Models Create silicone mold and resin cast the prototypes. BrickInTheYard.com for supplies.
- Design Packaging & Marketing. These may not be as fully realized as the toys themselves, but should be at least in a fairly developed comp state.
