You betta call E.T.!

made a super cool hat of my own design with a slip-stitch pattern based on the squares of the number 2.

even the yarn is super cool – it’s made of a self-striping soy/wool blend.

ET1et2

but i forgot that the super cool slip-stitch pattern makes a smaller hat than the standard sticth & I need to add extra stitches to adjust.

it’s ok, ET doesnt seem to mind.

it is wearable, but a little too snug.

me

(this is how i keep my mind from wandering when i do homework)

i am hoping to find a hip toddler to give it a good home.

Serge’s Snuggly Goodness

February 18th, 2007 by serge

Mom needed an emergency baby gift for one of her cousins daughters kids or something. This is what we made:

Baby Blanket

The cool thing about this one is that it uses four strands of yarn on jumbo needles, and can be made in less than a week.

BabyBlanket2

I think it only took me a weekend, but that was during winter break. It is super soft and snuggly – so much so that little whatshisname almost didnt get it.

love,

Serge

Heartfelt VD Present

February 18th, 2007 by serge

VD present This is what I made with my emergency yarn purchase.

As you can see, it would not have worked if I did not have red yarn.

This is the “Heart-Felt Wishes” bowl from www.fiberfemmes.com. Bad puns aside, I think it turned very well.

I used two stands of Patons Classic Wool and size 13 needles, just like the pattern called for.

Pre Felt VD PresentHere it is Before Felting:

It went surprisingly fast, and I almost had it on time to give away on valentines day.

I blame Physics homework for the delay.

Sadly, I have just discovered that my fancy new W/D is not that great when it comes to felting projects. I had to finish this one off by hand. Considering I already have the yarn for at least three more felted projects, I am gonna have to start doing laundry at friend’s houses. That’ll be fun.

45 days.

February 14th, 2007 by serge

Had to buy some yarn.

It was a gift item and I needed 100% wool in red.

I only had black, teal, lime, olive, coral and orange. no red.

That totally puts it on the OK to Buy list.

I don’t feel guilty, my conscience is clean

Clean, dammit… I’m Clean!

I’M CLEAN!

love,

serge

Second rule of Knit Club

February 7th, 2007 by serge

Ok, me not getting new yarn is just not going to happen. I think I can still make it till september if i add these 3 addendums:

exception a: Yarn purchased for the sole purpose of teaching does not count as stash. It is an office supply.

exception b: Recycling is good for the enviroment; therefore, yarn recycled from thrift store sweaters is A-ok.

exception c: Adding store-bought to stash can be excused if and only if these two conditions are met 1) Yarn is on CRAZY sale – minimum 60%-off AND 2) there is already a project in mind. this means pattern is already bought, written or printed off the inter-web. (condition 2 can be excused for yarn bought for holiday gifts – that goes in storage till september anyway.)

Love,
serge
